She laughed out loud as a breeze ran through, cooling the wetness on her sex. “Are you some kind of caveman?” She couldn’t stop laughing, but in between laughs, she kissed his back, bit at him, clawed him playfully.

West grunted in acknowledgement, and she laughed even harder. In that one moment, her soul felt as light and loved as her body felt pleasured. She slapped at her bear’s naked ass, banging out a bongo rhythm. “Hurry up!” she commanded. “I thought you said you were excited.”

In one smooth motion, West slid Elena off his shoulder and pressed her against the faded, red bricks next to the door of his little farm house. Her shirt was tugged up slightly by catching on the texture. She reached down between her legs, letting his cock warm her palm for a second. With a grin, she wrapped her legs around his waist, and guided him in.

She tried to buck against him, to take him in all at once, but West wasn’t having anything to do with speed. He gave her the tip, then pulled away, pushing back in ever so slightly.

“I can’t wait,” she groaned. Her face was red, her neck flushed. “Give me everything, make me hurt, West, I can’t keep from thinking about this, about you, I—”

He thrust deep and hard, but slowly, so slowly, that it was like he was taunting her. The cries on her lips turned from words to moans and then from moans to incoherent mumbles of his name and “yes, yes, yes,” and gasped breaths that matched the timing of his hips against her body.

Their skin, slapping together, his breath sliding around her throat, his lips locking onto hers, West was taking Elena to a place she’d never been – hell, she never even knew it
existed
.

“I can’t,” she gasped. “I’ve never... never felt like this, I’ve—”

West interrupted her with a deep, powerful kiss that pushed her head back against the wall as he drove in deep. She let out a soft, pleasured scream and then purred when he pulled away. For a long moment, West sucked Elena’s lip, then let it pop back into place as his teeth clacked together. “You’ve never been with your mate before,” he whispered. “You’ve never been with
me
.”

The way those words came out of his mouth, and his girth driving against her sent another shock of pleasure all the way through Elena.

“Scratch me,” West whispered. She did, and he smiled, driving his hips forward again and again. The sweet ache she felt in her deepest, sweetest place, sparked every time West filled her, and yearned for him each time he pulled away.

“Good,” he groaned. “So good, so... bite me.”

West threw back his head, roaring and whipping his hair back and forth. “How can this feel so good?” he asked. “How can anything? Bite harder, dig those teeth in.”

His voice was a ragged whisper, and from his swelling inside her, Elena knew he wasn’t going to last much longer. Of course, from the way her sex was gripping him, milking with every thrust, she wasn’t either.

With every passing second, the fur on her arms was growing longer and thicker. Her fingers curled, nails turning into something more animal than human. “Rip my shirt off,” she begged, squirming to get away. “Rip it off, I need to feel your skin against mine, no more clothes, no more fabric between us.”

The second her feet hit the ground, Elena looked into West’s eyes and realized that his beast was roaring, just like hers. His dark blues were stormier than she’d seen them, burning with lust and desire. He didn’t want to stop, she could tell. He wanted to drive into her, fill her up and watch her climax as he erupted. On the sides of West’s face, his stubble was slightly longer, slightly softer. His arms, too, were getting furry and thick.

“So this is real?” she asked as she tried to slow her breathing. “The... the shifting during...” She could hardly breathe, but that didn’t stop Elena from sucking a kiss on West’s increasingly furry chest. “We’re shifting?”

His eyes flashed brilliantly. There was no denying the animal within him, but his eyes and his face were still so kind that she knew it was him underneath the teeth and the claws. There was no doubt in those eyes, there was nothing but...

Kicking the door open, West kissed Elena as he led her through. His goal was the bedroom, but they were lucky to make it to the living room floor before she dragged him down. She, on her back looking up, he hovering between her legs, West grabbed the collar of Elena’s shirt with his teeth and ripped it straight down the middle, effortlessly tearing through both cotton and the spandex of her sports bra.

“That was expensive,” she said with a wry grin.

“I’ll buy you another.”

West pushing back inside her sweetly aching sex made Elena suck a deep breath, then let it out in a long, lingering sigh.

He moved inside her, as deep as he could go. When the heavy heat of his body rested against hers, Elena dragged her curved claws in a red streak down his chest. West, sweat dripping off the sides of his face, pulled back, haltingly, and then thrust in again.

Over and over, they moved together, Elena matching every thrust with a raise of her hips. Finally, with the tightness inside her, and the taut swell of West’s cock threatening to push them both to critical mass, she put a finger to his lips to get his attention.

“Lay back,” she whispered into his ear, then kissed his neck.

Without a word, West rocked backward, holding Elena close. The hair on his chest thrilled her pebbled nipples every time he took a breath. She pulled her legs back, unhooking her ankles from behind his back and let him draw her into a crouching position.

“So deep,” she moaned, throwing back her head and pulling a full breath through her nose.

Every bit of him thrilled her senses – the hard hair on his chest, the smell of their sex mingling in the air, the sound of his breathing and the pulse of his heartbeat inside her. Elena could hardly move, he was so deep, but that hardly mattered.

She pushed her hips forward, then back, grabbing his hands and placing them on her breasts. “Don’t ever let me go,” she said, biting her lip with teeth that were sharper than they were seconds before. “Never, ever let me go, no matter what happens.”

West pushed upward, forcing her to gasp with pleasure. When she opened her eyes again, he caught her gaze, squeezed her nipples between his fingers the way she loved so much. “I won’t,” he said. “You’re stuck with me, I’m afraid.”

Elena flashed a quick smile before a pulse of pleasure shot through her. “If that’s what you’re afraid of, I’ll take it.”

The pulse of sweetness tightened.

West dropped his hands from Elena’s chest and clutched her ass, pulling her as hard as he could onto him. She fell forward, breath heaving, and dug her nails into his chest.

“I can’t,” she gasped. “I can’t—”

“Then don’t try,” West said. “We’ve got the rest of our lives. Do what feels right.” His voice was obviously tight.

She balled her fists tight, closed her eyes and gritted her teeth. She felt West throb, then felt him twitch. All of a sudden, the world around Elena erupted. The hardwood floor under feet seemed to soften. She felt herself collapse down onto West’s chest, holding onto him for dear life, as though if she let go, the ground would leave her behind.

The two moved together, breathed together.

And then, in a brilliant flash, the climax that threatened both of them, exploded at once.

Gripping, pulsing, squeezing, sucking, it all happened at the same time. Feelings of anxiety, excitement, fear and utter, complete peace, all coursed through Elena as her body convulsed, holding her mate deep. He thrashed his head back and forth on the floor, roaring in ecstasy.

The two of them fell silent, just breathing, just holding on for dear life. Their hearts racing, neither could think, neither could do anything except feel, except
be
, for that one moment that they both wished could last forever.

“This never has to change,” West whispered, as they both came down from their clouds.

Elena smiled, arching her back and stretching until both her shoulders popped. Looking around the room, she couldn’t help but giggle. “Well,” she said. “If you want me to stay here, I’m gonna need at least a little space to put some stuff. I don’t know if anything else will fit. I’d hate to crowd out the Jedi.”

West kissed her forehead. “You? You can crowd my Jedi anytime.”

She snorted, then she laughed, all while West tried to maintain a very serious face. On the second in-laugh that made Elena sound like a clown horn honking, West gave up trying.

They lay there, her on top of him, their bodies wet and sticky and perfect.

After staring into each other’s eyes for long enough to memorize every detail, West was the first one to break the stare. He kissed Elena right on the end of the nose.

She kissed his dimple.

He pressed his lips to her forehead, and at the same time, she sucked at his neck.

“It just hit me,” Elena said, freezing for a moment. Her heart seemed to stop, right alongside everything else. “Everything just hit me all at once. You and how I’m here right now, and how,” she gulped, trailing off.

“Yeah?” West asked. “How what?”

She shook her head.

“You know what just hit
me
?” West asked, realizing that he maybe could loosen up whatever was stuck in Elena’s brain. “I just realized that the most scared I’ve ever been in my life was a week ago when you were trapped under that house. I’ve been shot at, I’ve been stabbed, and none of that compared to how I felt when I couldn’t find you.”

A tear ran down the side of Elena’s face. She sniffed, and then took a long breath. Her body shuddered when she released the air. “I,” she said, biting her lip again. “I’ve never felt safe before,” she finally said. “I’ve never felt like I could just give in and not worry and—”

He interrupted her with a kiss. “Safe, calm,” he smiled. “Happy?”

Elena nodded, then she blinked again, fighting back the tears.

“That’s how it’s supposed to feel.” He kissed her forehead again, then kissed away a tear that escaped.

“How what’s supposed to feel?”

“Love,” he whispered, pressing his lips behind Elena’s hear, and inhaling the scent of her hair as he warmed her skin. “We ain’t doing any more gardening today, huh?” West asked, grinning as he ran a hand down Elena’s face.

“Carrots can wait,” Elena said, smirking. “Me? Not so much.”

The carrots, as it turned out,
could
wait. For a long, long time.

“You don’t want me here, do you?” I said from out of nowhere.

With a loud grunt, Damon took another step, pulling his left foot up immediately after it touched the ground. Two days before, that foot had been swollen up like a rotten cantaloupe, but now it had started working, though apparently still hurt like hell.

He settled down a little, resting his weight on the ball of his injured foot, to stretch it out a little. Then it struck him that I’d talked. “What? Did you say something?”

“Yeah,” I said. “I – no, you know what, it’s just me being dumb and insecure. Don’t worry about it. You have more important things on your mind.”

The tenderness on his face when he looked at me took me by surprise.

Damon shook his head, eyes wide open. “No I don’t. Whatever’s bothering you, tell me. That’s how this works. That’s how it worked when we were,” he paused to swallow. “You know, back then.”

“You barely ever talked to me,” I said. “But I always knew you were there for me. Always willing to listen to whatever silly thing came across my mind.”

He grabbed my hands, steadying himself on his good leg. “I wanted to open up, Lily. I wanted to tell you everything, but, I couldn’t. Trying to believe what was happening to me was one thing, but involving you? That’s... it wouldn’t have been right.”

“You’re too nice to me,” I whispered. “After all the stuff you’ve been through in the last week, you’re telling me to unload on you. What is this man I’ve fallen in love with?”

Oops.

Well there it was, hanging right out in the open. To Damon’s credit, he didn’t laugh at me or give me that squinting look that said ‘are you sure you meant to say that?’ or make some obnoxious Freudian slip joke. He watched my eyes for a second, and then grabbed my hand, holding it tight in his.

“If it weren’t for you, Lily, do you think I’d even be here?” His face was very serious, his voice very soft. He stroked the back of my hand with his thumb. The twitching fingers on my shoulder told me he wanted to touch my cheek, tilt my head back and ravish me with a kiss, but he was afraid of losing his balance.

“I guess not,” I said quietly, looking down and averting my eyes. Truth is, I’m ashamed of my almost constant self-doubt, but I don’t know what to do about it. “I’m sorry. I’m so selfish. I just don’t know how to turn it off.”

“Turn what off?” he squeezed my hand and grunted in pain, but got his hand to the side of my neck anyway. His fingers curling against my neck and right below my ear sent a little chill through me. “Whatever you’re feeling is okay, Lily. We’re all scared – I know I am for damn sure. Tell me what’s on your,” he grunted again, wincing in pain. “Actually can you, uh, help me down first, and then tell me?”
