Maybe that was why he hadn’t called her. He resented her.

She hit a red light and stopped the car, waiting at the intersection and listening to the rhythmic whirr of the windshield wipers and the rain hissing off the car. The idea that she was responsible for Tyler losing his job didn’t surprise her; she seemed to screw up everything. She always had. Her life was a long list of screw ups. And now she had ruined the man she loved.

The light turned green and she set off through the crying night.

Tyler Blake stood on the edge of the cliff looking down at the lake his brother had drowned in. This was the place Dwayne had spent his last few moments before plunging into the cold, deep waters of Darkmere below. It was also the place Tyler had driven Dwayne’s blood red Cherry off the cliff when he realized he must get over Dwayne’s death and move on with his own life.

Now, as he stood here looking down at the calm surface of the water reflecting the dark rainclouds in the evening sky, Tyler felt Dwayne’s spectre on his shoulder once more. Their mother had always said Tyler would amount to nothing and she had been right. He had nothing. It had all been taken away. The life he loved, resurrecting dead businesses from the dust of obscurity and reanimating them as thriving companies. Gone. The travelling and visiting different parts of the world to see how other business models could be applied to his own business. Gone. Kirsty, the beautiful woman who had arrived at his office soaked with rain and later become his lover and his friend. Gone. There was no way he could ask her to marry him now. The man she had fallen for had power and control. Now he had nothing.

It was the loss of control that made Tyler feel scared. All his life he had possessed an inner sense of calm that had allowed him to control himself in all sorts of situations. And the man who was in control of himself was in control of everything. That sense of inner calm was gone, replaced by an uncertainty that made Tyler feel as if he was rushing over the edge of a bottomless chasm. He felt like he was helplessly falling into a deep, cold void.

He reached into his jacket pocket and took out the small white box from the jewellers. He opened it and looked at the gold and diamond ring inside. Even in the grey, gloomy evening the diamonds sparkled. This sparkling symbol of hope belonged to his old life. He couldn’t ask Kirsty to marry him now. What could he offer her? Nothing. She deserved more.

He closed the box and held it over the edge of the cliff. No point in torturing himself with what could have been.

With a sigh that seemed to come from the very depths of his soul, he dropped the ring box.

It landed on the deep water far below with barely a splash. It bobbed about in the surface. No doubt it would sink eventually.

Tyler turned away from the cliff edge and started down the dirt road that led to Darkmere House.

As he passed the edge of the lake near the house where his father had found Dwayne’s body, the rain started. It came down suddenly and angrily, soaking through Tyler’s suit. He remained walking at the same pace, letting the cold water soak his work clothes. He wouldn’t be needing them again, anyway. They belonged to his old life, a life of money and confidence and control. He had turned his back on who he really was, the bookish geek who grew up in this house in his older brother’s shadow. Maybe everything since leaving Darkmere...the business, the power...had all been a masquerade.

He reached the front door wet and shivering and cold. As he walked across the threshold, he could almost hear Darkmere House speaking to him.

Welcome home.

Chapter Three

The illuminated clock on the Corsa’s dashboard said it was three thirty a.m. as Kirsty guided the car along the road that led to Darkmere House. She was tired. The motorway driving had demanded all her attention because of the wet roads and the spray coming off the other cars. Now she was on the narrow road leading from the motorway to Darkmere, the rain had finally stopped.

She reached the iron gates and pushed them open, the wet metal cold against her hands. As she drove through, she looked for the house but knew it was obscured by trees. She closed the gates, got back into the car, and set off along the small road. She had decided that it wouldn’t be fair to wake Tyler’s parents up at this hour so she would park on the driveway and sleep in the back of the car. She had a heavy blanket that she always carried for emergencies, stowed away with her emergency water and engine oil in the Corsa’s trunk. And she was definitely tired enough to curl up on the back seat and drift off to sleep immediately.

As the trees gave way to the house’s lawn, Kirsty killed her headlights and used the moonlight to park in front of the garage which had once held Dwayne’s car. The house was in darkness. As she got out of the driver’s seat and stretched with her hands on her hips to relieve the aching in her lower back, she noticed that there were no cars parked in front of the house. The green Lexus that belonged to Tyler’s parents was gone and there was no sign of Tyler’s sports car. Maybe they had all gone away somewhere.

The night air smelled damp and fresh and the full moon illuminated the house and trees with an eerie silver glow. Kirsty opened the trunk and pulled out the blanket. As she climbed into the back of the car, she realised that her drive up here in the middle of the night had been in vain. Tyler wasn’t here. His parents weren’t here. She was still no closer to finding out where he was. Kicking off her shoes and pulling the blanket over her, she closed her eyes and descended into a troubled sleep.

Tyler woke up suddenly, feeling like he was drowning. He sat up in bed, bathed in sweat and gasping for air. He used to have the drowning nightmare a lot after Dwayne’s death. Over the years, it had gradually become a less frequent night time visitor. The bedside clock had said it was only five in the morning but he doubted he would be able to get back to sleep now; a dull morning light was already seeping in through the window.

Naked, he padded to the window and looked out, surprised to see Kirsty’s car parked near the garage door. Was he dreaming? He blinked a couple of times just in case his eyes were playing tricks on him. The car was still there.

Grabbing his silk robe, he went downstairs and opened the front door. It was definitely Kirsty’s car. But where was she?

He slipped his feet into is shoes and walked across the gravel to the Corsa. As he approached he saw Kirsty lying on the backseat, covered with a blanket. He knocked on the window.

She stirred and opened her eyes, looking up at him through the window before realization dawned on her face and she hurriedly opened the door and climbed out of the car. ‘Tyler!’ She threw her arms around him and the familiar feel of her softness, of her lustrous hair against his neck, of her hips beneath his hands, made him eager for her.

‘When did you get here?’ she asked him.

‘Yesterday.’

She looked around, confused. ‘But...your car...’

‘Is in the garage behind you.’

‘Oh. Your parents?’

‘Are in Spain. They spend a couple of months there every year.’

‘I’m so glad to see you!’ She hugged him again.

‘Come into the house. You look tired. What were you doing sleeping in your car?’ He took her hand and led her to the house.

‘I drove all night to get here. I didn’t want to wake anybody. I didn’t know you were here alone. If I did, I would have battered the door down to see you. But you didn’t answer any of my calls.’ She wiped a tear from her eye and he guessed it was a tear of relief. He felt bad for not contacting her but his thoughts had been in turmoil. He had thought she wouldn’t want him anymore. Seeing her now, holding her in his arms, he felt foolish for ever having those thoughts.

‘I switched my phone off.’

‘But why didn’t you call me? If something happens like this, you’re supposed to call me.’

‘Come upstairs...you need sleep.’ He closed the front door and led her up to the bedroom.

‘I don’t think I can sleep. I’m so excited to see you. I’ve been out of my mind with worry!’

‘Well just rest on the bed. You must be exhausted.’ They reached the bedroom and she pulled away from him, moving to the window. Framed by the morning light, she looked wonderful and curvy and sexy. Tyler felt a stirring beneath the robe.

‘Why didn’t you call me?’ she asked. ‘Why did I have to learn about all this from that horrible Anastasia woman?’

‘After the Board meeting, I didn’t know what to do. I got in my car and drove. I knew my parents were away so I headed up here to get some space to think.’

‘Space away from me?’

‘No...yes...I don’t know. After what happened, I wasn’t sure you would want to continue our relationship.’

‘What? Tyler, I love you.’ She came to him and stroked the side of his face tenderly with one hand.

‘I’ve lost it all, Kirsty. The companies, the money, the control.’

‘That’s what hurts the most isn’t it? The loss of control. You need to be in control.’

‘Ever since Dwayne’s death, I’ve been in control of everything in my life. Now, I control nothing.’

‘Yes you do,’ she said, looking into his eyes. ‘You control me. You always have. Take control of me now.’ She removed the T shirt she was wearing and unhooked her bra, letting her heavy breasts spill out for his viewing pleasure. She tugged off her jeans and panties and stood before him naked. She lowered herself to her knees, averting her eyes from him and looking at the floor. She raised her arms above her head, wrists pressed together in supplication.

Looking down on her like this, naked and curvy and awaiting his command and touch, he felt his cock harden and his balls tighten. He went to where he had placed his black silk tie over the back of a chair near the dresser and he used it to bind her hands. She gasped as he tied her, her large breasts rising and falling as she breathed rapidly and excitedly. Her nipples rose from the surrounding flesh like two hard buds.

Wrapping the loose end of the tie around his own wrist, he pulled her up and guided her to the bathroom door, tying her to the brass hook above her head. She was bared to him, the wood of the door pressing against her back and bottom, arms above her head and secured at the wrists, her heavy tits rising and falling in time with her excited breathing. He could smell her arousal drifting to him from the neatly trimmed patch of dark hair between her legs like a primal aphrodisiac.

He opened the robe and her eyes went to his rigid, thick cock. Her breathing became even faster as she looked at his manhood. He shrugged off he robe and moved to her, pressing his naked body against hers and kissing her hard. Her mouth accepted the invasion of his tongue and she moaned with pleasure. Tyler’s hands cupped each breast, his fingers moving teasingly over the hard nipples. Kirsty squirmed beneath his touch and her kiss became more urgent.

His tongue invaded her mouth, just as his cock would be invading her body. Her tongue danced with his and she arched her back to press her nipples harder against his fingers. He moved his hands away, making her wait, although he wanted nothing more than to plunge himself into her, to bury himself within her tight pussy and fuck her until he exploded.

‘Tyler, please touch me,’ she pleaded, writhing against the door.

‘Don’t call me that...call me Master. I control you. You have given yourself to me.’

She looked at the floor and moaned, ‘Yes...Master.’

Hearing the word come from her pretty, full lips made him want her even more. His cock felt so tight and hard, rising from between his legs like a thick tower. He moved forward and grabbed Kirsty’s plump, soft thighs and pulled them up around his waist. The position exposed her pussy to him and he looked down at her inviting entrance with unbridled desire. ‘Now you are going to feel your Master’s cock inside you,’ he told her before pressing his hips forward and touching the swollen head of his manhood against the wet heat of her pussy lips.

‘Take me, Master,’ she moaned. ‘Please.’

He plunged into her with a strong stroke that opened her up to his thickness and brought a loud gasp of surprise from her. He felt her tightness envelop him and he grunted with the pleasure of the sensation as he fit snugly into her. He withdrew until only his head remained inside her and looked down to see his shaft slicked with her sex juices. Pushing forward with his hips, he watched himself disappear inside her again, feeling her inner muscles grip his cock. He began to thrust in and out of her, taking pleasure from her. Kirsty’s soft, womanly body shook and trembled as he fucked her. Her breasts rolled heavily each time he thrust up into her. Her eyes closed and her mouth opened in a perfect ‘O’ as she gasped with every powerful push of his manhood.

His hands grabbed her bottom and the soft lushness of her cheeks excited him. He dug his fingers into the giving flesh and Kirsty cried out. As he continued to pump into her with his cock, Tyler moved his hands closer to the crack of her plump bottom, stroking his finger down over her intimate place. She groaned when he touched her there.

The door slammed against the frame each time Tyler rammed himself into Kirsty. He buried himself up to his balls in her hot tight flesh. He needed to be one with her, to possess her entirely.

He pulled out of her and removed the tie from the brass hook, turning Kirsty around to face the door before securing her there again. Now her curvy bottom faced him. He played with the soft flesh of her buttocks and the backs of her thighs, eliciting moans of pleasure from her, before he traced his finger up the crack, touching her tight hole lightly. She shivered and pushed her hips back to give him easier access. He pressed his thumb into her and she let out a low guttural growl.
