I took Wally's keys off of the coffee table, stuffed my phone deep into my pocket, then grabbed the few bags I'd packed. It was time to make a break for it.
“Came up that's all me, stay true that's all me.” Mike was calling back but I had to go. I left out the same way I'd come in. I ran up the alley cutting out where Wally's Cadillac was parked and jumped in. I drove past the house discreetly watching Mike knock on the door.
“A'ight, niece, I'll be seeing you around, Cori.”
All I saw was Mike in my rearview waving for me to stop. “Came up that's all me, stay true that's all me.”
“Naw, nigga, it's a wrap for that. I'm out.”
Chapter Eighteen
And Then There Was One

“Hey, Mike man, ya might wanna go in there. I heard a few shots.” Spook walked across the street, seeing his niece burn rubber on two wheels around the corner.
Not wasting another second, Mike grabbed the pistol from his waistband and began busting the window out. Shattering glass everywhere, he knocked the remaining pieces of broken glass from around the frame to climb in. The fact that no one from inside screamed at him entering the house like a madman sent an eerie sensation up his spine. “Keep a lookout Spook.” Mike wasn't prepared for what he saw. He ran to Nique's side, grabbing up his only flesh and blood cousin, not being able to come to grips she was dead. “I'ma send her your way,” he said, closing her eyes, knowing Corielle was responsible. Not giving a ghetto fuck about the one other body laid out only a few inches from them, he kicked Wally out of pride knowing he had to have been the reason behind all of this.
Chapter Nineteen
What Will Be, Will Be . . .

Shit, it had been one long fucking complicated day. Matter of fact, it had been one of the longest weekends of my life and I was more than ready to put a close to this chapter. Now I know what you're thinking, at this point in the game I should be gassing up my ride hitting the freeway to parts unknown. But I just didn't give a damn no more. Whatever is meant to be will be. I'd been down for whatever for years and what the fuck had it gotten me?
I pulled my beat-up doom buggy into the parking spot closest to the door and jumped out with confidence like I was Superwoman. I only needed one or two drinks to soothe my mood. After that, I'd be hitting the road to never return. As I sat brazen and bold in the rear section of the downtown club sulking about today's events and my two ex-friends dead on my living room floor murdered by my hand, I got chills up and down my spine. I needed to finish this drink so I could head South before Mike got the city on my head. It'd always been family first with him so he'd never listen to reason. It was no love lost for the D. I'd worn out my welcome and burned this city dry with all the robberies, shoplifting, hustles, schemes, fake insurance papers, tricking, and now murders. I had to go somewhere that no one knew me; and what the hell, the South had been a lot of people's fresh restart.
I took my last shot of Patrón then downed the final drop of my Blue Motherfucker before catching a glimpse of what I knew had to be a dream. At the worst time ever, a fucking nightmare had come back to me. I knew for sure my homegirl was smiling down seeing irony play out. Tasha and her crew of girls walked in like celebrities. After we locked eyes with one another, I shook my head knowing the beef was on. Since Nique wasn't here to settle the score, it was now me against the three-woman crew.
“Karma is surely a bitch. What up, Tasha? I see we meet again.”
