A month before she was scheduled to become Henry’s wife Wendy Shafer asked for, and received, permission to leave the service of the Central Intelligence Agency. She never told Henry of her role in the death of Cole McKillop. Though she felt guilty about hiding such an important piece of her past from her fiancé she didn’t want him implicated or, God forbid tortured, if the case were ever reopened.

On August 12, 2012, a year to the day after Brigadier General Cole McKillop was killed by Wendy Shafer, a plane landed at Charles DeGaulle International Airport in Paris. The plane had left London’s Heathrow Airport earlier that day and would be taking off again, en route to Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, India. Among the passengers boarding in Paris was a family who had spent a holiday at Euro Disney, and a man who was a part of Mumbai’s thriving Bollywood movie making enterprises.

The man who made movies was waiting patiently for the family ahead of him to board and be seated. Behind him was a man who absent-mindedly touched the scars from his recent facial reconstruction surgery. He looked nothing like Lt. Major William Hudspeth….
