       “Zileanian?” Melissa asked, looking upset.

The ladies got busy and hurriedly got dressed into their performance outfits as
Elizabeth
giggled and hugged Melissa.  “Girl you are soooo lucky!  A half Zileanian and half H’traeian has the hots for you lady and that’s a lot of male prowess to battle the Stirring with!”

Mary asked, “What’s with all the growling?  Really, I want to know.”

Melissa tried to hide a smile as she zipped up her mom’s knee high boots with the sky high heels.  She also helped her with the long leather fringed vest that actually hid her mom’s enlarged belly.

“Zileanians share a few of the same genes as our wolves, here on Earth.  They don’t change into wolves, but they have some of the wolf characteristics.  Like extra keen hearing, sense of smell, a pack mentality, mating practices and protection of their family/pack.  They have alphas in their families like wolves.”  She laughed and added, “And all H’traeian men.”

Melody took her daughter’s face in her hands and asked, “What does the man make you feel?”

Melissa looked into her mom’s loving eyes and admitted, “My body responds to his scent like nothing I’ve ever thought possible.  Even his low growl makes me tingle with heat and a ridiculous desire to get to his side immediately over flows my senses.  His eyes, Mom, have you really looked into his eyes?  Aren’t they possible of transporting you to other galaxies?  It’s so weird, I can’t look at him but a glance or two in order to stay sane.  My heart beats so fast, I fear having an aneurism when I see him.  He probably thinks I’m some sort of fruity alien female who can’t talk right or think with more brains than my pet money Marcie.  I can’t seem to get my mouth and brain to work together when he’s near me.”

Mary asks Melody with a little fear, “I hope he’s feeling something similar.  Being a half-bred too but from another planet, he might not experience the Stirring like our girls do.  We need to ask our men to answer a few questions for us.”

They heard the noise of the men entering the adjoining dressing room.  Melody knocked on the door and David cracked it open.

“Mom?  Anything wrong?” he asked trying to look past her but she kept the door opening narrow.

“Would Sabastian have any of those Stirrings that our folks have?  Is his mating for life too?” she asked her stupidly grinning son.

“So, Sis is Stirring and it’s good ole Sabastian doing the deed, huh?”

       Melody snorted.  “Answer your mother!”

David smiled and whispered to her, “Dad had to give him a tonic, like he did to Missy, to get him to stop growling and challenging all the other men, especially the other Zileanian guest. They were both almost snapping at each other.  Yes, they mate for life but they tend to be a bit rougher on any males who threaten them than most other men are.  They are very family oriented like us too.”

“Thanks, that’s what I wanted to know.  Now you guys hurry and take a seat.  Us ladies are going to knock your boots off.”  With that Melody shut the door, requiring a little extra strength to get it closed as David wanted to know more.

“Ladies, lets go surprise our men,” Melody stated with a happy grin and twinkling eyes.

CHAPTER 16  *  *

HAPPY TIMES

The programmed spot lights followed Melody and Melissa as they pranced across the stage, singing their hearts out for their party guests.

David had invented a sensor that when clipped to the clothing or instrument of the performer one light will pick up the signal and move right along with the performer.  Melissa and Melody both had the sensors placed on their instrument straps for tonight’s show.

Mary played her very unusual keyboard, while
Elizabeth
pounded the drums while Mel and Missy sang and strummed their music guitar machines.  Zane’s wife Sue shocked everyone when she blew her sax like the best on earth ever had.

As Melody strutted from one side of the stage to the other her old, famous mesmerizing persona took over and she was once more a star, brilliant and glorious.  Her voice was low and sultry then became soft like a purr as she sang about her love of the man in her life.  Her eyes stayed upon her Jonathans as they clamored over other males to get to the foot of the stage.

Sabastian got to the foot of the stage before both Jonathans and he didn’t take his eyes off Melissa who sang unlike any female he had ever heard, on any world.  His heart was bursting with love and desire for the most desirable female to grace any globe, or so he was convinced.

When Missy came and knelt before him on stage as he gazed up into her eyes, he realized his fate was sealed, and so was hers whether she knew it or not.  She was his and his alone.

“Mine!” Sabastian bellowed out in a loudly growled roar as three men tried to shove him aside.  Before he could rip them apart for trying to wedge their way between him and his beloved, Jonathan J, David and Jonathan helped him to calm down and kept the others back.

When he suddenly held his arms out for Melissa he wasn’t as shocked to speechlessness at her falling into them as everyone else clearly was.

With his arms around her he knew this was where he was to always be, with his beloved.  Taking her face into his hands he lowered his lips slowly, blocking out the world and becoming one with her soul as he tasted her beautiful lips for the first time.  Honey, roses, sunshine and peace was the taste of her.  Ohhh, the sweet peace of home.  He was home.  She was his, he was hers and they would never be parted.  Her tender, sweet, genuine loving response was everything he’d ever dreamed of from a Bonding female.

His life was just beginning, this very moment.  Everything until now had been a dress rehearsal.  This was the real thing!

He hated to pull his lips from hers but he was being compelled strongly and desperately to do something that was ingrained deep, deep in his DNA.  He nuzzled her soft neck and gave her a tiny nip that barely broke the skin, but her single drop of blood was licked up instantly with his tongue.  To his shock and everlasting joy he felt her do the very same to him.  It was complete now, they were mated for life.

With Melissa’s arms around his waist, clinging tightly to his body, he knew his previous brown eyes had now turned to silver blue irises.  He had changed inside and out.  He immediately realized he needed to hide that fact from a number of the other guests, so they would not realize that Melissa was holding so tightly and lovingly to an alien, a tad different from their own homosapien species.

The singing from the remaining women continued for another song then the rest of the ladies were helped down from the stage by their mates.  They surrounded Melissa and Sabastian, knowing something spectacular was occurring with the hugging and kissing couple.  The new couple’s faces were radiant.

Sam’s neck had another drop of blood that Melissa noticed only after David pointed to it.  She kissed the spot and removed the blood, licking her lips clean before turning to face them again.  Both she and Sabastian were now “marked” though she didn’t understand much about it or even what had compelled her to do such a weird thing.

Melody and Mary were a bit confused, not having studied alien life, like their children had, so they had to be told by their spouses that Melissa and Sabastian had completed the mate acceptance ritual of nipping each other.  That’s the way it was done on Zile.

Melody was all smiles but she stated, “Sabastian, I understand that you and our daughter are now joined as mates.  But,
we
also have a ritual on
our
world and that is to have a marriage ceremony.  And our family has to have a priest perform the ceremony, to make it morally acceptable and blessed by God.  After all, Melissa is a H’traeian Princess, the first one ever from Royal blood and Earth.  I might add that the entire Jontu family will be watching the ceremony.”

Sam looked upset that he couldn’t simply whisk her away to a love nest of his choosing right then and there, as was his people’s practice.   But, he conceded that since he could feel in his mate’s emotions that it would please his beloved, he agreed, as long as the ceremony would be soon, as in a few hours at the latest.

Mary quipped, “Oh, we learned a long time ago how to whip up a fast wedding, didn’t we sweetheart?” she added Mark with a smile.

First they had to say goodnight to all their guests.

The men managed, with quite a bit of difficulty, to get Sabastian separated from Melissa.  The men then ushered him as fast as possible into a den.  Once inside and away from the now giggling females they began discussing living arrangements and notifying his family as well as the H’traeian royal family of the imminent upcoming nuptials.

Their H’traeian grandfather and king was thrilled and said it would be the first time an alliance with Zile would be cemented, through a marriage Bonding.

Sabastian boldly stated that he could feel Melissa’s family was pack worthy.  However, he was an alpha male within his own right and couldn’t nor wouldn’t submit in the pack/family, even to Melissa’s fathers.

       So there was a dilemma.

As soon as all the guests had gone and the women had talked with Melissa about her upcoming wedding night, to calm her undercurrent fears, there was a knock on the office door.

“Come in,” responded Melissa, feeling it had to be her beloved, she could almost sense his presence on the other side of the door.

It was.  Mary walked over and opened the door.  She saw Sabastian, followed by the other men of the family right behind him.  She also noted there was some tension in the air.

Melissa taking one look into Sabastian’s eyes felt panic rippling though her.  “What’s wrong?” she inquired as he took her hands in his and kissed  them before he gave her a big hug and kissed her neck and forehead before giving her a tender lip kiss.

Melody looked at her men and expected an answer to what was going on.  In her distress she began lightly rubbing her stomach, soothing her sons, who she knew were feeling their mother’s distress.  They had a strong psychic connection, far stronger than she’d had with David or even Melissa while she was pregnant with them.  She had only joked about it to her husbands but they hadn’t taken her very seriously.

Sabastian saw the men wanted him to do the explaining.  Taking Melissa by the hand and leading her to a loveseat they sat.  Looking into her worried eyes, he felt the innate need to calm his mate and remove all worry from her now and always.  “My life’s mate and my heart, I am alpha within my family pack.  I cannot abandon them, nor can I allow another to take my place, as none at present are mature or strong enough to lead them rightly.”

“What does that mean, regarding me?” Melissa inquired.

He took a couple of deep breaths, trying to find a way to work through this.

Jonathan J took a seat and pulled Melody onto his lap and began to rub her back to get her calmer.  “Daughter mine,” Jon J began, “it means he is unable to leave his pack and join our family here.  We are your pack/family.  I and Jonathan are the alphas here.  There is not room for a third alpha within our little family group.”

Melissa listened and her eyes grew panicked.  Then she suddenly relaxed and her eyes began to sparkle again.   “Well, what’s wrong with having two family packs living here, each with their own alphas?  Sabastian can move his people here and we can be separate but still together?”

Melody wanted to slap each man, really hard.  “Silly men!  Don’t you ever think beyond the obvious?”

Jonathan and Jon J looked at Sabastian and they all looked at David and Zane to see their reaction too.

“Would that be feasible?” Melissa’s dad Jon J asked his new son-in-law.

Jonathan announced, “We have extra room in the South wing.  You could make that home.  We all have private kitchens, great rooms and studies, but the rest of the house is shared by all.  Most meals are celebrated together, as a family group.  You are most welcome to join our activities, in whatever capacity you feel comfortable.”

Melissa asked, “Sabastian, how many are in your pack/family?”

Sebastian was beginning to smile again.  His eyes filled with joy as the invitation to live with her family but maintaining his own status within his own family could be maintained.

Looking around at her family Sabastian answered Melissa’s question.  “It’s two of my brothers, their mates, five cubs, the youngest two are female. One brother is my elder by two years, the other is a year younger than me.  The boy cubs are sixteen, fifteen and fourteen.  The girls are nine and six.  With me, that makes ten people.  Dad travels all the time.  Mom doesn’t like travel and stays mostly on H’trae with my maternal grandparents and her siblings family.  She does visit us every few months though.  I became the alpha when I was eighteen, which was seven years ago.  That allowed Dad to do more travel that was needed in his work.”

Melissa looked worried again. Adding ten extra people with security needs too was asking far too much of her little family.

Melody saw her daughter’s expression of worry.  Getting off Jon J’s lap to calm the jealous look on his brother’s face.  She walked over to Sabastian and touches his arm.

“Sabastian,” she asks, “do you think you could talk your brothers and their family into moving in with us, with the understanding that you will remain their alpha, but that we will now be each other’s extended family?  For always?”

Looking over at the men in Melissa’s family and sensing their true emotions, Sabastian finally managed a smile.  “They will be wild and I’m afraid a bit crazy for a few days.  After all, they’ve attended about two dozen of your concerts and helped in the search for you Melody when you disappeared.  When you came back they’ve never believed your story.  In fact, we’ve had many debates on the topic until I met Jonathan J and later David.  When I tell them I’m mated to your daughter by Jonathan’s identical twin, well, they’ll be beside themselves with joy.”

Melissa began to tremble and her eyes started returning to violet.  David noted it a moment after Sam turned and hurried to her side.

David asked to anyone in the room, “How soon before the wedding?  My sis is getting uncomfortable again.”

Everyone knew he loved his sister dearly and constantly looked out for her welfare.

The beautiful Royal wedding was broadcast throughout several galaxies.  It was the first Royal coupling with anyone outside of H’trae and Earth.  Everyone celebrated this union, for the Zileans were a strong people and would make a good alliance.

H’traeians claimed not to have jealousy in their society.  Melody always snorted loudly every time she heard that ridiculous claim.  Her men were about the most jealous of any on Earth or H’trae, she’d long ago decided.
