“Different than Sandarians. That’s crazy.” Dani twirled a finger through his hair. “And what about this GTO military alliance?”
“It will probably be years before order in the galaxy settles down. There are planets that have been repressed for generations. Not allowed to develop space travel. They now have that freedom. Other planets were forced to join with the emperor’s military even though they had no interest in doing so. That’s one reason this coup worked. There were enough dissatisfied elements within the military to make it happen. Now, their primary focus will be what it was supposed to be. Protecting weaker planets and enforcing fair trade within the GTO. The alliance has its work cut out for it. The good news is that they’ve abandoned the psi superiority complex. Beings, including humans, will be treated as equals. In theory anyway. There will be worlds that will fight the change, but it’s a start.”
“And what of our dear Portal Masters? Have they chosen a location yet?”
Ian smiled. “They’ll stay close. Durgan is dropping the whole secretive, restrictive stance. These men will be allowed families and freedom. They won’t know if they can create portals of their own away from Sandaria for some time. They need to increase their numbers and train the new members as best they can. It’s a long road.”
“A long road. I like the sound of that.” She leaned forward and kissed him deeply. He tasted of rum and pure Ian. She moaned as the passion rose.
“You picked a hell of a time to join the Cavacent family. It’s going to be a wild ride, if nothing else.”
Dani ran her palms up Ian’s chest. “I think I can handle a wild ride or two.”
He nibbled on her neck and she let the pleasure flow. She sighed and whispered, “Or two thousand.”
