She laughed. “I’m so excited! But I miss you.”
“Awe, sweetie.” I sighed and Kyle hugged me from behind, knowing I needed it. “I miss you like crazy, but so long as you promise to come out here at least before Christmas and stay for at least a month, I think I can forgive you.”
“Done and done!” She promised. “Thank you for understanding, Kami.”
“Oh psh!” I huffed. “How couldn’t I understand? You’ve worked hard for this, Ember, enjoy every moment.”
“I will.” She assured. “Have fun on your hike! Kyle told me all about where you’re going - I’m jealous.”
“Even I don’t know where we’re going.” I pouted and Kyle chuckled from behind me.
He called out loud enough for Ember to hear. “No hints, Ember.”
She giggled. “You’re going to love it.”
“I love you.” I stated. “I’ll talk to you later.”
“I love you too!”
I disconnected the call, spinning in Kyle’s arms. “So - where are we going?”

I stared up at the long wall of mountainous rock looming overhead and blinked. The late May sun basked down on my face and I breathed in the fresh flowery air. “We’re going up there?”
Kyle raised a brow, “If you’re up for the challenge?”
I nodded. “Oh, I’m up for the challenge.” I assured, looking up again. “Do you know where we’re going?”
He pointed up to a dark spot in the rocky side. “Do you see that?”
I nodded. “Yeah.”
“It’s my favorite place on earth, Kami.” His voice was low. “I’ve never shared this place with another person, but I want to share it with you. I want to share everything with you.”
Looking sideways at Kyle, my husband, I grabbed the rocky wall, positioning my toe on a natural jut-out just as I had done countless times in the gym and a few others in the natural wild land. Then, I hiked myself upward.
As I moved, Kyle was right there beside me - always keeping pace. His eyes were filled with an encouraging pride. As I looked up at the climb we faced, and not just this specific climb, but the climb of life, I knew that I had the best partner climbing beside me. Together we would support each other until the very end. I had faith in us, because I loved him and he loved me.
And love really was all we needed.
This series has really been something else for me. Within these pages, there are so many personal moments I have shared that I can fully say there has never been a series that has been this close to me. I want to thank you all for reading, because without you reading and loving these words and characters...and aching to be a part of their lives...well, I wouldn’t be successful in making my dream of becoming an author become reality! I especially want to thank those who are in my life and who have inspired little moments I’ve shared. Both friends I have met in person and friends I have only met online (you know who you are) as well as family. I want to thank my mom especially for this novel, because she is a woman who has a strength inside of her that I truly do admire. She is an inspiring woman, beautiful inside and out! Thank you mom for never letting me back down from fear of failure, fear of success, or just fear in general. You’ve made your girls strong. I love you!
