Two years had passed by fast as hell, and the plan to find Kamal and Jordan had faltered. California was a huge state and they were nowhere to be found. I’d gone to talk to Kamal’s mother, but it turned out that she had moved too. Serg and I both agreed that we would not give up, although it was on the back burner for now.

As far as the business was concerned, it was grossing at least ten million dollars a month and I had at least twenty girls. I’d even sold the house Kamal and I once shared and had a 5,000 square foot mansion built in Alpharetta. My relationship with Serg had developed into a bond so deep and special. The only thing was, Cherie still didn’t know about us. In her eyes we were just really close friends.

“Girl, why the hell are you still single?” Cherie asked as we laid down on the deck of the yacht in our itty bitty thong bikinis.

“Are you really askin’ me that while we’re in Miami?” I sighed as I turned over to lie on my back. “If I was married I wouldn’t be able to run away wit’ you.”

Cherie laughed. “But can you believe that I’m getting married.”

I couldn’t. “You really let that personal trainer nigga get you caught up. He doesn’t even make enough money for you.”

“Bitch, I make enough money for me and him. All I need Leon to do is keep layin’ that good pipe.” She blew the smoke out of her nose and passed me the blunt.

Changing the subject, I said thoughtfully, “Miami is so beautiful. I’m gettin’ sick of Atlanta. Been there all my life and it’s time for something different.” I took a deep pull from the blunt as I took in the scene of the tranquil, blue ocean and sky.

The sound of sea gulls flying by only added to the tropical ambiance.

“I feel you,” Cherie said as she sat up. “Me and Leon have been talkin’ about relocating.”

“Really? Dang, so you’re leavin’ me too bitch?” I pouted as I passed the blunt back to her.

“That’s why we gotta get you hooked up wit’ somebody.”

Rolling my eyes at her, I asked, “So, you gon’ leave the family business?”

“No, I’d just expand it. Once a hustler always a hustler boo. You know that.”

I picked up my glass full of Moet and took a sip. “Okay, so does Leon know what you do?”

“Yeah…and?” She gave me her attitude face.

“Nothin’ bih, I was just askin’, damn.” I shook my head at her.

“I know. Sorry. So, Miami is full of men and we’re gettin’ your single ass hooked up tonight. That might be your ticket to move here chica.” Cherie’s smile was all big. “It’s been two damn years since that sorry ass nigga left you. It’s time to move the fuck on.”

Little did she know, but I had moved on. However, keeping it a secret was becoming harder and harder. We would’ve been come clean to her, but after she told me that she felt her brother was off limits to her friends, I couldn’t. I didn’t want to lose Cherie. She was my best friend, other than Serg.

“No Cherie. I don’t wanna be hooked up with anybody. Last time you did that shit the nigga was crazy as hell with tattoos all over his face. Please, spare me the task of havin’ to reject someone who could potentially kill me for that very reason. Match maker is not your forte boo. Stick to the hustle.”

              We both laughed.

“Bitch please. I’m hookin’ your ass up wit’ somebody.”

Instead of going back and forth about the issue, I decided to leave it alone. If she tried, I’d politely decline. Serg’s face drifted into my mental and made me smile. We’d only been in Miami for two days and would be leaving soon, but I missed him. It was like it hurt to be away from him. However, it was the end of Cherie’s single life. She and Leon were going to the justice of the peace when we got back and having a reception the next evening. Guess who was planning the reception? Me, of course.

After our ride on the yacht the sun was starting to set. Cherie was already drunk as a skunk talking about going to the club. She needed to take her ass to sleep somewhere, because I didn’t feel like having her drunk, uncoordinated ass depending on me to get her back to her room. Besides, we’d gone out every night that we had been there. Honestly, I was tired.

“I’m sleepy as hell Cherie. Can we chill tonight?”

“Bitch, who comes to Miami to fuckin’ chill? This is an extended bachelorette party and it ain’t over,” she slurred.

I sighed. “Okay. Damn. You can barely walk straight, but you wanna go clubbin’. Bitch, your ass is not as slim as you used to be. Ain’t nobody tryin’ to be carryin’ you around again tonight. Straight up. Then when you get drunk you wanna start tryin’ to fight mufuckas. It’s just you and me here hoe. It ain’t like we got a goon squad around the corner and shit.”

Cherie started laughing hysterically. “You’re so dramatic Sasha. For real.”

As I shook my head, I made my way inside of the Ritz Carlton hotel.

Our rooms were side by side, so when I stopped in front of my door, I turned to look at her. “Well, I’m takin’ a nap. Call me when you’re ready to go out.”

“Yeah, yeah party pooper.” She rolled her eyes at me and walked into her room.

When I walked into mine, the cool air that greeted me gave me life. I stripped out of my clothes and laid across the bed without disturbing the covers. That was when I heard something that sounded like someone was in my room. Was it housekeeping and if so why didn’t they have a cart outside of the door? Suddenly my blood went cold. Who the fuck was in my room?

              “Baby…”

When I heard his voice, I thought it was a figment of my imagination, but when I turned around I knew that it wasn’t. Serg was really standing there, in my room. I jumped up from the bed and wrapped my arms around him.

“What are you doin’ here?” I whispered as if Cherie could hear me.

We kissed before he answered. “I missed you, so I took a flight.”

“But babe, it’s only been a couple days.” I didn’t want to let him go.

“A couple days too long. I’m not used to you bein’ away from me.” His eyes were full of longing as he held my face in his hands. “I love you.”

“I love you too, but you already know that your sister is right next door. And how did you get in here?”

He chuckled. “I was bein’ all nosey when Cherie booked the rooms. I paid attention when she gave you your room number. When I got here I just snuck in when the housekeeper stepped out and propped the door open. I hid in the closet ‘till she left.”

I couldn’t help but laugh too. “You’re crazy. What if Cherie catches you in here? We’re supposed to be goin’ out later.”

“Just keep her out of your room. She won’t know shit.” He kissed me passionately again. “I’m leavin’ first thing in the mornin’ ma. I just had to see you. As crazy as it seems.”

“It’s not crazy. I missed you too,” I told him when I pulled away.

“I wanted to give you flowers, but I know my sister would wonder where you got them from, so I got you this.”

He passed me a Saks Fifth Avenue bag. When I looked inside I noticed a shoe box with Jimmy Choo written on it. I was one of those women who loved shoes, so there was a huge smile on my face.

“Open it,” Serg coaxed as he ran his fingers through my hair.

I opened the box and there was a pair of sexy, six-inch heel blue, Gator skin pumps. I’d been looking for a pair, but he’d found them for me. They reminded me of my pops’ Gators. Like father, like daughter.

“Oh my God. I love these baby.”

“You’re welcome. Now, put them on.”

He didn’t have to tell me twice. I felt my body overheat as he watched me slip my feet in the sexy high heels.

What would he think about his sister constantly trying to set me up with someone?

I bet if he knew he’d be ready to tell her the truth then, but I wasn’t ready to. Therefore, I kept her match making efforts to myself.

“I’m glad you like them and if you didn’t miss me, I’d feel like I ain’t the man no more.”

“Oh, you’re the man daddy.” My hand made its way to his crotch. “You’re hard too.”

“I know.” His voice was deep and raspy as he gently pushed me back on the bed. “And you’re already naked.”

              “Well, except for the shoes…”

A couple hours of laying in Serg’s arms later, I realized that Cherie hadn’t called. That kind of worried me, since it was after ten o’ clock. Serg was snoring lightly in my ear as I dialed her number.

“Hello,” she mumbled into the phone.

“You sleep bitch?” I asked with an amused edge to my voice.

Guess that heifer couldn’t hang either. If it was up to me, I’d be snoring just like Serg.

“Hell yeah bitch. I’m drunk as fuck. We’ll go out tomorrow. Bye.” She hung up and I giggled as I snuggled against my man.

That shit was music to my ears.

Serg had managed to sneak out the next morning without being seen by his sister.

“I wish I could stay and show you a good time, but I know how you feel about Cherie knowin’ about us. I still feel like we should tell her, but I do understand why you don’t want to,” he had told me before he left.

“We will tell her. Just not right now.”

He nodded. “Okay babe. I love you so much.”

              “And I love you more.”

We tongued each other down and I felt empty as I watched him walk down the hall. It was a little after eight am and I figured that Cherie was still asleep. That gave me the time to make a few business calls. Yeah, I was technically on vacation, but my money was my top priority.

“Sup Sasha?” Brielle asked sounding all chipper first thing in the morning.

“Well damn, ain’t you the early bird?”

“You already know. I’m up every mornin’ before five thirty. This sober life’s different.”

“You inspire me,” I joked before getting to the point. “So, what’s up with what we talked about.”

Brielle had filled me in on this pimp the streets called “Cuba.” He frequented the Suite Lounge often with his bottom bitch Caramel. See, not only was she beautiful and voluptuous, but niggas bragged about how superb her pussy was, like Sunshine on Harlem Nights.  She was a commodity, who would get down and dirty. Word was, that hoe would do something strange for a piece of change.

Sweet Nectar Entertainment most certainly sold platinum pussy, but I needed a bitch who was really, literally down for whatever. From what I’d heard, Caramel was that bitch. What really worked in my favor was the fact that she was tired of working for Cuba. She’d confided in Brielle, who was ready to put me on.

“Oh yeah. She’s down to holla at you whenever. I think she’s excited about it, but the only thing is, she’s afraid that Cuba will kill her.”

I knew that would be an issue. It had also crossed my mind that he’d try to kill me too for taking his top money maker. Cuba had a reputation for being one of those low down dirty pimps who didn’t mind beating a woman into complete submission, or killing one. He’d had a few run ins with my pops, but A was now in retirement from the game.

“Okay cool. I’ll be back tomorrow. Set it up for this weekend.”

              “A’ight. I gotcha.”

We hung up and I thought about how far I’d come since the day I found out that my husband had left me. A lot had been revealed, letting me know that he’d been living a double life the entire time. Obviously he hadn’t just left me due to unhappiness. He’d left because he owed some very dangerous men a lot of money. Little did he know, but he was a lot safer when he was with me. I was keeping him alive. Now his life hung in the balance because of his stupid decision. However, I was glad he had left, because now I had a real man.

We were back in Atlanta and it was two days before Cherie’s wedding reception. She and Leon would be going to the justice of the peace the very next day. The reception was that Friday and I had set up my meeting with Caramel for that Saturday. So far, I hadn’t actually stolen another pimp’s bottom bitch. When I recruited, I normally avoided that sort of thing, to not cause chaos that could ruin what I’d built.

Maybe I was being a little greedy, but I didn’t care about that at all. Hunger was a good thing. Once a person wasn’t hungry anymore they seemed to fall off. Going after Caramel was very ambitious and would probably cause a lot of shit, but I was willing to bet everything I owned that it was worth it.
