In the end I had some fun and Levi did too. I’m glad he got over his past, welcoming the future.

Chapter XIII

“Ahh, I hate school! Why do I need to go anyway? It’s not like it helps me,” says Zoe with a loud voice, piercing throughout the room.

“Chill down, you always say this shit every time school starts,” I address her screaming with a calm voice, trying to drop it on her.

“It’s not like I’m poor or anything to go to school, you know?” she continues moving around the living room. Damn, every year I find Zoe doing this stupid ritual, I could say. Of course, I need to calm her every fucking year. Oliver doesn’t give a fuck and there is no one else to do it. Maybe this year the other girls will help, but I doubt it.

“Baby sister, calm down, come here, and let me give you a hug.”

“What? I’m not ten anymore you know? You a pedophile now?” she babbles around.

“Now you did it, come here!” I say running to catch her. She tries to get away but with no success.

“Let me go, let me go now!” she screams like I’m killing her.

“You sure act like a ten year old. Stop resisting; I want to help you, that’s all. You really need a boyfriend. Your hormones are going crazy.”

“Now you tell me what to do with my personal life, ehh?” I look at her, puzzled by her reactions. She never acted in this way. It’s weird, but I guess teens are crazy in the first place.

“Do what you want; I’m out of this place. Go into your room and break something. Maybe it will cool you down,” I say with a smile on my face, knowing she will never break something of her own.

I leave the house, making my way to the office. The next couple of days will be busy. I will have to actually do stuff. My brother has made an offer to an eccentric guy that wants to build a branch here, in Boston. His in the tech industry. I’m not sure what he develops; I need to do my homework today. I will have Jane update me.

The drive to the office was slow and boring. Jane already had prepared all the documents I needed for my meeting with this guy. She is always thinking ahead. I love that about her; no need to tell her every time what I need or what she should do. More likely, she tells me what I need to do or not do. I check about this dudes info, passing page by page in slow motion. So boring I could watch the grass grow and still be more entertained.

It’s lunch time. I take a break and go eat something. We have our own cafeteria with pretty good food, actually. I made sure of that, I need to stay on my macros. I sit on a table alone but Jane shortly joins me. It seems the only friend I have in this place is her. I’m okay with that. I don’t like this people anyway. They so stiff and boring, going about their life in the most trivial way possible.

“All alone, eh?” she asks me as she sits down with her plate.

“Like always, right?” I say with my head in the food, eating at a fast speed.

“Easy with that, do you want to choke?”

“It’s okay, I have you here,” I continue at the same pace as before.

“I’m not the only one you have, Levi. You know that, and you need to embrace that, for your own good.”

“Yes, yes. I’m trying okay? It’s not that easy, you know! The things I went through. You can’t understand, so don’t act like you know what you are talking about, ok?” I murmur with an angry voice, trying to suppress my anger that is building at a high speed. I don’t know why but I can’t forget my past, I just can’t. Maybe it’s not meant to be forgotten, but just ignored to the best of my ability.

I stand up, finished with my meal. Jane is not done, so I leave her behind and return to my office. I start the air conditioner and set it as low as I can. In no time the place is freezing but I just sit in my chair, like all is okay. Five minutes pass, Jane coming back from the cafeteria. She enters and instantly the chills get her.

“Levi, what are you doing? Give me that thing. You act like a ten year old. This is not for playing around,” she says getting the temperature back to normal.

“But you are, right?” I snap out of nowhere, the words coming out of my mouth like it’s not even me saying them. My voice is different from normal. I raise my head to check Jane’s reaction to what I said. She stands there, amazed by the stupid shit I say sometimes. She looks at me, like I’m broken, and I am, the truth be told. She makes two steps toward me, but with the corner of my eye I see the last person I need right now, Alice. My brain fires like crazy, attempting to regain my composure. I lighten up, putting a smile on my face.

“Alice, hey babe, what are you doing here?” I ask curious.

“She called me just before you left the cafeteria and said she wants to see your office and make you a surprise.”

“Hey, baby, you seem a little tired?” she acts with concerning eyes. She walks at a fast speed toward me, checking every inch of my face.
Just what I needed
.

“I’m okay dear, just tired from work, okay? Jane, isn’t that right?” I say softly grabbing Alice by the hands, trying to reassure her of the mistake she made.

“What are you working at?” she asks with such radiance that it pierces through my gloomy state. She pushes me with her hips and throws her eyes on the papers I have been reading. Her reading speed is amazing so in a matter of seconds she gets what’s up.

“Do you need any help? I can surely help with something, right?” she continues with her eyes still in the papers. I look at Jane, asking her with my stare what to do. She swiftly takes control of the situation, letting me rest on the side. I can’t do this right now.

“Alice dear, of course you can help him. Maybe if you want, you can join the meeting he was tomorrow with this client. What do you say?”

When I hear the words that come out of Jane’s mouth, my face muscles tense. I clench my jaw, giving a crazy stare at her.

“Sure, I would love to help Levi with his meeting.” Alice responds with a radiant voice, caressing my hand. I smile at her, accepting her offered help. Great. Thanks a lot, Jane. We will see what will come out of this charade. Maybe it will work out pretty well.

Jane takes Alice to her office to talk some more about me, I’m sure. I fall into my sit, meditating. I need to chill down. This stress in not good for me.

Later in the day, I end my business and return home. Alice is beside me as we enter though the door. Inside the living room, a complete full out masquerade is in motion. The girls are jumping about all over the place, even Oliver is caught in this. I wonder what happened.

“What’s this all about, brother?” I ask him with a straight face. I want some peace and silence now.

“Ask Ashley brother, she is the motive for all this commotion.”

Ha? Hmm… I whisper to Alice what Oliver said to me. She is stunned too but with a glimpse in her eyes. I think she knows what’s up. I don’t ask her but let her proceed.

“Ashley, dear, did he asked you?” she says running toward Ash. She embraces her tight, tears on her face.
What the fuck is this shit
.

“He did,” I can barely hear her. The music is loud as fuck.

“Can you fucking shut down that fucking music!” I snap out of nowhere, amazing all, even my brother. All look at me like I’m crazy or something. I stare back with cold eyes.
What
? Oliver whispers to me: Ashley is getting married. Her man asked for her hand, bro.

I process what Oliver says, putting all the pieces of the puzzle in the right place. Well, it makes sense, but now is not my best moment for celebrations.

I congrats Ashley then make my way upstairs, avoiding to make any eye contact. I need to sleep. It’s only seven but I feel like its four in the night. Alice doesn’t follow me, but stays with her friends. Good for her. I need some alone time right now. I go in the shower and slowly calm myself down. One hour later I’m way better. I even have a smile on my face for no reason at all. I’m going mad, but I knew that for a long time now. I slam on the bed, my full weight adding pressure on it. I close my eyes, resting my mind; but not for long. Alice finds me right after, all upset on me.

“What is your problem, eh? Can’t you be happy for me and my friend?” she blasts at these words like it is my duty to agree with her.

“Babe, calm down, come sit next to me.”

“Like that’s gonna happen any time soon,” she continues on the same tone, giving me a headache. This girl can’t drop anything.

“I rise of the bed and go grab her. She runs away as a scared cat. I purse her as a dog, my mouth while open, laughing my ass off.

I finally catch her after an insane run around the room.

“I’m sorry baby; I was through a lot of stress. Of course I’m happy for you and Ashley. I just wait to attend her wedding. When is it?” I ask trying to reconcile.

“Hmm…do you actually care? It’s in the spring.”

“Sure I do, it’s your best friend right? I will always care, dear. Come here; let me make up to you.”

I start kissing her neck, gentle. She lets me but only for five seconds and no more. I can see she’s tired. Her eyes are sleepy.

“Babe, do you feel well? Are you sick? Come, let’s go to bed.”

She joins me without a word.

We fall asleep, her wrapped in my arms.

I wake up with a dead hand. She didn’t move an inch from her position. It’s 6 AM. I slowly get my hand back to life, not waking up Alice. She looks so cute, not having the resting bitch face, as I normally see these days. I slick my hair back. It’s gotten pretty long.

Today I have to meet that fucker, with his stupid tech company. Alice will come with, as agreed the other day. Damn Jane, with her stupid idea. What was she thinking?

I take a fast shower, and then go to the gym, alone. I need to cool my head ever more.

At the gym I go on a fucking rampage, raping the weights. Done with that, I feel way better, depleted even. I want to go sleep again, but I really do have business to attend.

Returning home, I go face to face with Ashley. I look at her, she looking at me. No one says anything, just staring. I browse my mind for something to say, she surely doing the same.

“I’m sorry about last night. I was caught in a bad mood. I really do care about your event and I will be happy to participate when the wedding will take place.” I talk and listen to what I say in the same time, wondering if it’s good enough for her.

“It’s okay, I feel you. Don’t need to worry about anything. You already did plenty for us. I really do appreciate.”

She says with a small smile, her eyes full of kindness. Didn’t see her like this before. I guess it’s the euphoria she got in her system. It will all pass.

“I’m glad to hear you understand me and my current problems, unlike someone we both know.” Of course I’m referring to Alice and of course Ash gets it fast. She puts her hand on my shoulder, trying to transfer some of her energy to me, unsuccessful, I have to add. I depart from her presence, making my way to the kitchen.

I’m hungry.

Only I truly know to cook in this house. I don’t like that.

I check the fridge, full with crap, as always. This people can’t eat healthy even if their life depended on it; and to be franc, it actually depends. Fuck it. I go eat out. Ten minutes to one of my favorite restaurants. I love their food. Only Oliver knows about this place. I didn’t tell nor Zoe or Alice for that matter; and if I think about it, I will not even do it in the future.

Four o’clock. I get ready to leave. Alice is still putting her makeup. It’s been one hour already. For Christ sake, what can take so much time? Is she painting the Mona Lisa? Ten minutes later she’s done and presents herself to me.

She did paint the Mona Lisa.

I can’t but stare at her beauty, making my cock go hard. I can’t even concentrate at the shirt I try to button up.

Dear Lord, I do thank you for your blessing.

“I want to fuck you now,” I drop these words in the same time as my pants fall to the ground.

She looks like at me like I’m the crazy one, unable to maintain my composure. How can I do that with such a prey in my grasp?

“Undress now, I don’t want to rip those lovely clothes of you.”

“Don’t touch my face, okay?” she asks and I launch myself at her like a lion.

I slap inside, making her scream of pain and pleasure. I bang her brains out, unable to stop until I blast though her every layer of composure. Next time we fuck, she will beg me to do it like I do it now.

I end in a loud final tone, heard in the whole house.

Inside the car, I still can’t think straight. This fucking meeting, right when I was recovering from my fall. Karma, I guess.
