Sour Cream Cutout Cookies Recipe
Ingredients for cookies:
1 cup shortening or oleo
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sour cream
5½ cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
Ingredients for icing:
1 cup powdered sugar
¼ cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs, vanilla, and sour cream and mix. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Chill for several hours. Roll out and cut with your favorite cookie cutters.
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 8 minutes, or until set and lightly browned on the edges. Cool.
For icing, combine powdered sugar and milk. Mix until the icing is smooth and easy to spread. Add vanilla.
Make 3 – 4 dozen cookies, depending on the size of the cutouts.
