Tris blinked, and
Caillech’s
visage melted away to reveal Daniella. She was right and he hated to admit it; part of him did want her. Tris wanted to twist his fingers through those locks to see if they were as silky as they looked. At that moment, some of her power broke and he could move his hand. When he tried to curl it into a fist he could not. Whatever spell she had over him was only so that he would not harm her. It had to be some other part of her power, so Tris wound his fingers through her hair and found it was soft.

Daniella glanced up at him, and he saw the amusement in her eyes. She raked her teeth over his cock. Tris hissed in a breath of pain, but it felt so good. His muscles shook from the intensity of it. She increased her rhythm, drawing him in and out and keeping him within her mouth until his shaft hit the back of her throat. She engulfed his dick and did not gag. Tris held her to him as her head bobbed up and down. He tried to manage the pace at which the vampire devoured him, but it was beyond his control now. Little sparks exploded in his vision, and his whole body was taut with anticipation. A bead of sweat slid down the side of his face. He heard small grunts and realized they were coming from him. Tris tried to hold back, but her hex had finally consumed him and he was at her mercy. All he needed now was the release.

He leaned back in his chair and succumbed to the shocks of pleasure torturing his nerves. Daniella dragged her lips along his length, creating the suction, and flicked her tongue over his spongy head. When her teeth scraped his flesh, it was the last straw. His hips pushed off the chair and he came, pumping into her mouth. Tris gripped her hair tight and thrust into her a few more times before releasing Daniella. The satisfied languor of the orgasm washed over him, and he opened his eyes to stare into hers.

A triumphant smile adorned her features. She stood up slowly and pressed her lithe body against his so he could feel every curve of her voluptuous form. He caught the faintest hint of mocha as though it was ground into her already creamy brown skin. Daniella placed kisses along his throat and stopped over his jugular vein. The anticipation of her bite coiled his muscles, but it never came. Instead, she flicked her tongue over the spot and whispered in his ear.

“You taste good.”

“Go to hell,” he forced himself to say. Feeling the revulsion of what she was settled back on him once more.

“Sorry. Not on my list of places of visit. You do know that this wouldn’t have been possible unless you truly wanted it.”

“Never!
Not with you.”

She pulled away and stared into his eyes, searching them for the answer that he already knew was there.
“Really?
Because without that craving, none of this would have happened.
You reached out to me. I see another from before, with red hair and pale skin. You loved her, but something went wrong and you bottled up the grief until it turned to hatred. But there’s something else...so much bottled passion.
Mmm
...”

Tris shook his head, not believing what he heard. “Get out of my head.
Out of my dream!”

She frowned, and a small divot formed between her perfectly arched brows. “As you wish, but remember what I said.” Daniella kissed his cheek and backed away, fading into the background.

Tris opened his eyes and jumped. The deep tones of
Type O Negative
whispered in his ear. He ripped off the headphones and flung them to the floor. Peering around the room, Daniella was not there. He patted his groin and found his erection had been satisfied. The echoes of her touch lingered. He tried to shake them off, but the longer he thought about her lips on his cock and her kissing his neck, the phantom pain of old wounds came alive.
Caillech’s
vibrant eyes flashed in his vision along with the times she had...well, those times were behind him, but the dark pleasure lingered.
She will not use me for her devious whims. I don’t care what Joe said; her fangs are going to be mounted on my wall.

* * * *

Daniella awoke suddenly when she felt something burning against her throat. She opened her eyes and stared into the coldest blue eyes she had ever seen, burning with hate. The silver of the blade was searing her. If it was left there, it would eventually eat away at her flesh. Maybe that was what he was aiming for. Fear crept through her body until it gripped her tongue that she could not spit out the words locked within her mind. All she could do was lie still and gaze into the eyes of the man who wanted her dead.

“That’s right. Wake up, you scheming bitch! I don’t care what Joe says. Your head is mine. Now get up.”

She nodded and put her hands up, trying to rise from the cot without the weapon cutting even more into her skin. Even when she moved, Tris made sure she knew the silver dagger was still against her flesh ready to take her head. Fear had her in its grip, but she could form words now.

“W-what did I do?”

He smirked.
“Like you don’t know.”
Tris backed her up against a wall.

The anger in his eyes was more than rage. Daniella saw his red face, the tendons standing out in his neck, and the veins pounding in his temples. He was ready to burst and barely holding on to whatever control he had. “I-I don’t. Enlighten me at least before you kill me.”

“You put a spell on me and seduced me in my sleep. How dare you invade the sanctuary of my
mind!

Shock hit her, but the pieces of the puzzle finally came together at what he was talking about.
“Oh no!”
She closed her eyes, and the fragments of her dreams came back together and formed into a cohesive picture. Daniella hung her head. She licked her lips and remembered the taste of him on her tongue. The wonderful salty taste of his flesh and his cock with the blood that surged through both spiked her hunger. Her throat went dry, and her fangs tingled. She was not going to let the thirst get the better of her. That was one reason she was different than the others, and the hunger did not rule her.

“Oh no is right. Is that all you have to say? How did you do it? Tell me so I can ward against it, so that it never happens again with one of your kind.”

“If you could take the sword away from my neck, I’ll explain. This was not intentional. I think I deserve to explain before you chop my head off.” She got over her terror and put her hands on her hips. If she was going to be beheaded, she was going to defend her honor and she was going to go down swinging. She was getting tired of Tris treating her like a piece of dirt.

“I don’t think so.”

She gritted her teeth, wrapped her hand around the blade, and wrenched it from his hand. The silver stung and scorched her flesh. Daniella flung it across the room so it landed in one of the punching bags. Tris stared at her as though he could not believe it. She could not believe it either, but she was not going to fall prey to him. No one would walk all over her when she was turned into a vampire. That was the opportunity
Balthus
gave her when he pulled her from the strip club and the downward spiral of her life. She poked Tris in the chest, feeling the well-muscled man underneath the fabric of his shirt. More pieces of her dream came to her. She heard the words he said and felt the pleasure that radiated off him. Daniella shook her head and cursed the other part of herself that she thought she had gotten rid of when she had become a vampire. It was that part of her that had drawn
Balthus
and other men to her.

“I’m sorry about slipping into your dream. I thought that part of my life was over. I know that someone in the past wronged you, but I’m not that person. I assume that’s why you hate vampires so much.”

“What part of your life are you talking about?” He growled, but he did not move.

She pushed a stray lock from her face and stood her ground. At least he hadn’t gone for the knife. “When I was human I was a stripper, I had a way with men. I could tell if they
were really into me more than wanting
to have sex with me. It was kind of a sixth sense.
Balthus
saw me at the club and we had this connection. He said I was in his dream, and he never dreams about anything. I found him attractive too, which was how it worked. The more attractive I find a man, the more I dream about him. Each time, I remember more of what I dreamed. When I told
Balthus
about it, he said that I was a succubus, or part one, because I didn’t know what I was doing. He explained it was the subconscious part of me that acted out and slipped into the dreams of those who I wanted to be with. He assured me that after I was turned it would stop.”

“Apparently your loving master was wrong.”

She shrugged. “I guess so. Look, I’m sorry. It’s not something I can control. I wasn’t planning on coming in here, falling asleep, and trying to seduce you on purpose.” Daniella sighed. For the first time since she had become a vampire, she felt the dull throb of a headache starting between her eyes. Dealing with this man would drive her crazy.

“And I’m supposed to believe that? You’re right up there with ghouls. I think those are even worse bottom feeders than your kind. What man would even want to bed a succubus to beget a child?”

Daniella slapped him hard enough it snapped Tris’s head to the side and stung her hand. “I’ve heard enough from you. You may be holding me captive and detest me and other vampires, but I can’t help who I am. Yes, vampires serve the
Grigori
, but I don’t know anything about it. I’ve met my master only twice. He wondered what was so special about me because you didn’t sense me for a few minutes the first time you came looking for my nest. Now get this through that thick skull of yours, I
will
be treated with some respect. I’m still a living...well, I’m still a sentient creature who has feelings. I’m not some dried-up husk you can kick around. I’m willing to look past your oafishness and you trying to kill me, but you have to be respectful of me. Is that understood?”

Tris gritted his teeth. His face reddened even more. His fists were clenched by his side and after a few long uneasy breaths, he uncurled them. He shoved his hands through his hair to push it from his face and then dragged his fingers down his cheeks.
“Fine.
Just stay out of my head.” Tris walked a couple of steps away from her and stopped.

Daniella wondered what he was doing, because he hesitated. The silence between them stretched so tight that it was ready to snap. She dared not take a step in case the fragile truce that was between them was broken. The dull ache in her temple remained, but it had gotten a little stronger. She heard the footsteps above her from the other occupants of the house walking around. She sensed there were two others besides the one she had met. Then there was Lori, making the house large enough for five. The basement she was being kept in was a small gym with all the workout equipment and the showers. Daniella had discovered another room with a fridge in it. Exhaustion for being awake during the day and the power she sensed around the house weighed on her. That was when she had decided to lie down on the cot and all hell had broken loose.

Tris turned slowly and glanced back at her over his shoulder. “How is your hand?”

She was stunned to hear the question coming from him.
“Fine.
Why?”

“You took my silver knife. It must have seared your flesh. Are you okay? Do you need anything?”

Daniella glanced at her palm and where she had grabbed the weapon. The skin was still raw, and it had not healed. The throb in her temples had turned into an ache, and her gums tingled once more. Soon the twisting cramps of the hunger would invade her body, and she would not be able to move.
How am I going to tell this behemoth I need to eat? I’m sure he’s really going to go for that, considering he hates vampires anyway. Yeah, so, I need to sink my fangs into someone. Can you run down to the corner mart and pick me up a clerk or two? I might be able to put it off for a while, but if we keep going at it this way then even my ability to hold out from drinking is going to run out soon. I’m not going to show him either. But is he trying to be nice to me? Maybe I should ask.
“I’m fine,” she forced herself to say. “No need for you to worry about little old me. I know even asking me if I’m okay is out of your comfort zone.”

Tris grunted and stomped up the steps. She figured he would slam the door on her again, but he did not. Instead the soft click of the latch went into place, and his footfalls walked away from the entrance to the basement. His words echoed through her mind about her parents. What man would rightly have sex with a succubus? Maybe he didn’t know. Daniella did not know who her parents were. Ever since she could remember she had been in foster care, tossed around from house to house, living with only a couple of families who truly cared for her. One had wanted to adopt her, but something happened and they had moved away, leaving her with the neighbors across the street until the county had picked her up. Their faces were only a blur in her mind now. All the families after that did not give a flying fuck about her and only wanted her for the monthly income she would bring in. Daniella had been lucky and never had anyone who had tried anything with her, but when she was sixteen she ran away with her boyfriend at the time. They had driven halfway across the country before she was caught and transported back to the state. She got lost to the system. Daniella knew better than to get into drugs. The only thing she had were her wits and her body. On a break, she had gotten hired at a sleazy strip joint and became a popular dancer at seventeen.
