“You’ve changed drastically, and I really didn’t hang out with you that much in school. I’ve always thought you were beautiful though. If I had been able to go to that prom, it wouldn’t have taken this long for us to get to know each other.”
His words touched my heart. “You’re right,” I said, “and I’m dying to know everything there is to know about you. Just don’t give up on us before we ever even properly started. The sparks are still flying, Art, and I’m not ready to send you to the friend zone just yet.”
“I guess we’ve both made mistakes,” he said.
“Life’s all about moving forward and not dwelling on the past.”
“I just want to take you back in there and dance with you like the world around us doesn’t exist.”
Our eyes locked, and I gazed deeply into his eyes.
“I just have one question for you,” he said.
“What?”
“Can I get you some punch?”
I laughed, realizing how ridiculous my speech must have been. “I’d love that.”
He touched my face. “Life is all about second chances, Alexis, and I’m so glad to have one with you.”
I shook my head, tears welling in my eyes. “You’re my every dream.”
“You’re my every wish come true,” he said before his lips ever so gently pressed down on mine.
My heart had never beat so fast. For the first time, I knew I actually had a chance with the man of my dreams, and I wasn’t about to let anyone take it away from us.
