Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1933, JANE JUSKA grew up in Archbold, Ohio. In 1955 she moved to California, where she has lived, with brief intermissions, ever since. She has taught English for more than forty years in high school, in college, and in prison. Many of the articles she has written about teaching and students have appeared in professional journals.
A Round-Heeled Woman
is Juska's first book. She lives in Berkeley, California.

The names and significant details have been changed to protect the privacy of those whose generosity and good humor have enriched my life.
